Soggy Dog Day & Free Pet Health Fair

Trailblazer Pet Supply & CARD  (Chico Area Parks & Recreation District) are proud to present the 5rd annual Chico "Soggy Dog Day!" Bring your four-legged friend and splash the day away at Shapiro Pool!  This year this wonderful event includes a FREE health and wellness fair for your pets, provided by various community pet organizations*.

Does your dog love to swim? This event is split into seven 30-minute time slots for water play.  Fee includes a half hour of water play, a Goodie Bag for each dog, participation in the Dog Splash competition, and a photo opportunity with your dog! To sign your dog up for a swim time click here!

Pet Health Fair & Vendors 2018

This year we are excited to hold our community’s first Pet Health Fair, which will take place outside the gates of Shapiro pool during the event. The Pet Health Fair will be FREE for all participants in order to promote healthier lifestyles for pets in our community! At the event you will be able to learn more about all the options you have as a pet owner to facilitate overall health for your pet.  Build a relationship with practitioners in our community who can help you learn more about nutrition, comprehensive veterinary care, dental health, parasite prevention, herbal care, aromatherapy, hydro therapy, grooming care, training techniques, and much more!  Many of our vendors will provide free samples and discounted services.

Chico Animal Shelter: The City of Chico Animal Shelter is owned by the City of Chico and operated by the City of Chico Police Department under Animal Services.  Animal Services is responsible for enforcing all City animal related ordinances and state laws, including picking up dogs running at large and quarantining animals for Rabies observation.  Come to their booth to learn more about licensing information and and get your pet microchipped, which includes a lifetime registration with Home Again!

North Valley Animal Disaster Group: Working with emergency services to educate the public about disaster preparedness, and assist in sheltering and evacuation of animals during a disaster. To work jointly with public and private agencies and organizations in the North Valley to promote the safety and well-being of all domestic animals and farm animals, including wildlife, affected by a disaster with emergency temporary sheltering, evacuation, medical care, identification for reuniting animals with their owners or adopting into good, suitable permanent homes. http://www.nvadg.org/

TrailBlazer Pet Supply Grooming: Being entrusted with one's pet is something we take very seriously. Each person and each pet is unique and we try our hardest to accommodate the needs and wishes of each client. Come to their booth for discounted nail trims and free grooming samples! 

Tranquil Paws: The Tellington TTouch Method of working with animals provides people with real solutions for challenges they may have with companion animals.  It develops a deep bond between people and their animals and is a gentle method of training animals.  It promotes we-being, helps reduce stress, and builds confidence in companion animals. Vitality:  Nurturing mind, body, and soul. Vitality offers a variety of services including Ashiatsu Massage, Raindrop Technique, and Essential Oil Education. We choose to work with Young Living essential oils due to quality and purity. We will be sharing how to safely use essential oils for your pets. Including pest deterrents, calming blends, and more!


SOGGY DOG EVENT RULES:

  • 15 dogs per time slot.
  • We recommend only one time slot per dog.
  • Dog owners are not permitted to swim during the event
  • All dogs need to be accompanied by an adult 18 years or older. There is a minimum of 1:1 person to  dog ratio and a maximum of 2:1 people to dog ratio.
  • For the safety of children: children who attend the event must be accompanied by an adult and will need to remain in the bleachers (viewing area) during the event.
  • Prior to the event, engage your dog in a high-energy activity.
  • Dogs must be spayed or neutered and up to date on rabies and vaccination shots.
  • We reserve the right to dismiss or refuse admission to any dog for unruly or aggressive behavior.
